The Excel interface
When you open Excel 2013 for the first time, the Excel Start Screen will appear. From here, you'll be able to create a new workbook, choose a template, and access your recently edited workbooks.

From the Excel Start Screen, locate and select Blank workbook to access the Excel interface.



Title Bar
All windows programs have a title bar, which displays the name of program and name of the current workbook and also holds some control buttons.

Quick Access Toolbar
The Quick Access Toolbar is a customizable toolbar that contains a set of commands that are independent of the tab that is currently displayed. You can move the Quick Access Toolbar from one of the two possible locations, and you can add buttons that represent commands to the Quick Access Toolbar.

The Ribbon
Excel 2013 uses a tabbed Ribbon system instead of traditional menus. The Ribbon contains multiple tabs, each with several groups of commands. You will use these tabs to perform the most common tasks in Excel.

Name Box / Address bar
Display the active cell address or the name of the selected cell range.

Formula bar
When you enter content or formulas into Excel, they appear in this bar.

Column/Row Headings
In Excel and other spreadsheet applications, the column header is the colored row, letters used to identify each column within the sheet, or workbook. The column header row is located above the row one.
And the Row header is the colored Column, Numbers are used to identify each row within the sheet, or workbook. The row header column is located left the column A.

Worksheet Working Area
A worksheet or sheet is a single page in a file created with an electronic spreadsheet program. A worksheet is used to store, manipulate, and display data. Each worksheet is composed of a very large number cells, which are the basic storage unit for data in a file or workbook.

Sheet Tabs
A sheet tab appears at the bottom of your worksheet. It has the name of the worksheet on it, which can be changed and you can also change its color.

Vertical/Horizontal Scrollbars
The scroll bars makes it easy to move to any part of a file. You can quickly move to any part of a worksheet by dragging the scroll box to the corresponding part of the scroll bar. Excel Worksheet support both horizontal and vertical scroll bars.

Status Bar
The Status bar appears at the very bottom of the Excel window and provides such information as the sum, average, minimum, and maximum value of selected numbers. You can change what displays on the Status bar by right-clicking on the Status bar.
